Your local tree fellers

All our tree surgeons at Land's Escape Bespoke Garden Services are fully qualified, insured and experienced. The most common operations undertaken by our team are pruning, branch removal, felling and stump removal. We can also remove dangerous or unhealthy trees from your property before they can infect other trees.
Have a look at the varied range of tree services that we have to offer:
  • Crown Reduction
This service reduces the height and/or the spread of the crown of a tree. Keeping a tree safe and manageable is important in terms of your safety, as well as keeping the tree aesthetically pleasant. This is achieved by cutting back to live growth points, whilst maintaining the tree’s natural shape.

Why have this done?
Crown reduction is often used when a tree has grown too large for its permitted space. It is preferred to topping (cutting the top off) because it results in a more natural appearance, increases the time before pruning is needed again and minimises stress to the tree.

  • Crown Lifting
This service entails removing the lowest branches and the pruning or reduction of lower branches. This is usually done to a uniform height from ground level.

Why have this done?
Common reasons for crown lifting are to increase light penetration and provide clearance for pedestrians, vehicles, buildings or lines of sight. Minimum heights are usually dictated by local laws. In the U.K. common practice dictates clearance should be 5.2 metres for vehicles and 2.5 metres for pedestrians.
  • Crown Thinning
Crown thinning is the removal of selected internal branches throughout the tree to reduce the density in the crown and produce a uniform appearance. We can recommend a percentage of the crown for removal to retain as much of the trees’ natural shape as possible.

Why have this done?
This procedure opens up the foliage of the tree, increasing light penetration and reducing the weight on heavy limbs which could become dangerous. Overall crown thinning will improve the trees’ structure, as well as prohibiting unwanted pests.

  • Tree Felling
Tree Felling is the complete removal of a tree down to ground level. This work involves the careful lowering of branches and timber so as not to cause any damage or destruction to surrounding plants and structures. The stump will be left as close to the ground as possible but will be above soil level.

Why have this done?
What may look like a healthy tree on the outside could be rotten on the inside and potentially dangerous. Our tree surgeons are available to inspect the trees on your property and, if seriously damaged or diseased, we can safely remove them for you.

  • Stump Grinding
Once a tree has been felled you may wish to remove the stump and root system entirely to prevent re-growth. This work is usually undertaken using specialist equipment such as a stump grinder or occasionally using hand tools, if appropriate. Stump grinding involves the removal of stump to a specified depth, generally between 150mm and 300mm. Upon completion, the remaining hole will be back-filled with soil to leave a level surface.

Why have this done?
Stump removal or stump grinding ensures the stump and roots are taken well below ground level to enable easy replanting. The levelled area may also be covered in turf or built upon.
  • Dead Wood Removal
This service entails the removal of dead, dying, diseased, detached or broken branches piece by piece.

Why have this done?
Mainly, this work is carried out to improve crown appearance and the overall tree aesthetics, but the removal of such branches may also be recommended where they represent a risk to persons or property.
